MaxAttack! raised the level of two wheel drive rally racing in the United States for the past few years. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsor during those years, Danza del Sol Winery in Temecula Valley, California, the Rallysports Group of America (RSGA) paid out a cash purse of $15,000 USD per year to be divided amongst the fastest teams competing in the MaxAttack! events.

Getting Ready to Head to LSPR

Well, I leave tomorrow night for the Lake Superior Rally.  Like at New England, I am going to be posting interviews and information during the course of the rally from the service areas.  Hopefully the Rally America satellite truck will be working, and internet access won't be a problem.

I always love going to the Lake Superior Rally (née POR).  It was my first SCCA national rally as a co-driver (1990, with Erik Thompson in a Volvo 142).  I have DNFed on the transit from the last stage to the final time control (with Jim Anderson in a Honda Prelude in 1994). I have broken at the end of the last stage and was towed into the final time control (with Dave Turner in a Mitsubishi PIckup in 1995).  I was Matt Iorio's first-ever co-driver at the 2002 Lake Superior Rally.

Lake Superior is the site of my only ever national stage rally podium, in 2001 with Patrick Richard.  We finished third, behind Mark Lovell/Mike Kidd and Rhys Millen/Lauchlin O'Sullivan (yes, Lauchlin was actually co-driving for Rhys!).  It was a truly special weekend.

I love the scenery of the Upper Peninsula.  I love the stages and the unpredictability of the weather.  I love the friendly people, pasties at the Suomi Bakery, beers at the Library, fishbowls at the Ambassador...  I miss the old Library too (I did get to visit it before it burned).

Obviously I wish I was competing, but I look forward to bringing the excitement of the MaxAttack! two-wheel-drive rally series presented by the Danza del Sol winery to fans via the internet.  Look for updates on this page, of course, and also at http://www.specialstage.com and the occasional Tweet when there is breaking news.
