2010 MaxAttack!™ Rally Series Calendar and New Series Sponsor Announced

Danza del Sol Winery in Temecula Valley, California to sponsor series for two-wheel-drive rally cars in 2010.

Portland, OR (April 15, 2010) – After three successful years of bringing the best of two-wheel-drive rally action to the United States, the MaxAttack! Rally Series is pleased to announce that, thanks to the support of the Danza del Sol Winery in Temecula Valley, California, the series is able to continue to provide the most intense competition and the richest prize fund in North American two-wheel-drive rallying. Additionally, the Rally America sanctioning body has stepped up its support for the MaxAttack! in 2010, allowing more consistent administration and online championship registration for events in the MaxAttack! series.

The prize fund and format for the MaxAttack! Rally Series presented by Danza del Sol will remain the same in 2010, with the winner of each event taking home a cool $1,500. As in 2009, competitors will run either a western or eastern qualifying event, with all teams contesting a central “Shootout.” The highest point total from one of the qualifying events and the Shootout will determine the winner of the coveted Jake Himes Cup. The $15,000 prize fund will again be available to all registered two-wheel-drive entrants at each series event, regardless of how many of the MaxAttack! rallies a team may contest.

The events that comprise the 2010 MaxAttack! Series feature two changes from the 2009 schedule. The ever-popular New England Forest Rally remains on the calendar, and the Oregon Trail and Lake Superior events return from the first two seasons of MaxAttack! "We are very fortunate to have great support from the event organizers for the MaxAttack! series," says Ben Bradley of the Rallysports Group of America. "Michigan is the spiritual home of United States rallying, and the Lake Superior Rally is not known as the 'oldest, toughest, and meanest rally' for nothing."

For the first time in many years, the Lake Superior Performance Rally will not be a part of the Rally America National Championship, but 2010 will see the event make its debut as the Rally America Regional Rally championship event. The Rally America regional calendar has been changed so that it runs from October 1 through September 30 each year, and the best teams from each region will be invited to duke it out on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. "I think that with LSPR hosting the MaxAttack! final event, and the Rally America Regional Rally Cup, this event will be as big as ever!" enthuses J.B. Niday, Managing Director of Rally America. “We are very happy for the support of Danza del Sol Winery for both MaxAttack! and also the Rally America National Championship series."

The Rallysports Group of America is also pleased to announce expanded video coverage of the series; in 2010, video from all three events will be available on YouTube, the MaxAttack! web site, as well as other internet motorsport video hosts. "We are pleased that Grant Hughes and his video crew have agreed to cover the series in 2010," states Eric Burmeister of the Rallysports Group of America. "They did a tremendous job of providing well-edited same-week coverage last year, and we are excited to see what they can produce in the new season."

The three events that will constitute the 2010 MaxAttack! Rally Series Presented by Danza del Sol are:
• Oregon Trail, May 14-16, Portland, The Dalles, and Dufur, OR, http://www.oregontrailrally.com
• New England Forest Rally, July 16-17, Bethel, ME, http://www.newenglandforestrally.com
• Lake Superior Performance Rally, October 16-17, Houghton, MI, http://www.lsprorally.com
Oregon Trail and the New England Forest Rally will be the qualifying events for the Jake Himes Cup, and the Lake Superior Performance Rally will be the central Shootout event.

The MaxAttack! Rally Series Presented by Danza del Sol consists of three events across the country, and each event will feature a $15,000 prize fund to be distributed among the top two-wheel-drive teams, as well as a season championship.
